Marshmallow Pie Logo

For Beatles Cover Band, Marshmallow Pie :)
Made in Illustrator (1 day) - perhaps eventually I'll be adding some rocking horse people...
Ronald, Marshmallow Pie's drummer and Beatles extraordinaire, is currently making a vinyl sticker of this to put on his bass drum!

Mmmm, pie....

Gift Wrapping!

So it actually came about when I was trying to figure out what to do with the trash paper backing from the bows - this year I bought tiny bows from Ikea that had round sticker backs.
I started placing them around the bows (see bottom left package) and voila! instant cutesy dots!! They sort of remind me of sand dollars.

I cut out circles from a scrap holiday card and drew a few others with old puffy paint.

Recycle!

New Site!

I am proud to announce a new & improved krystylillustrates.com!
And in the process, I learned Dreamweaver and many other life lessons (thanks to my gal Nikki <3). There's still a few things I'm adding (like my editorial and design portfolios) but I feel satisfied at this point :)

Under construction, no more! Hazaaa!!

Sign I made for the art show display:

All the labels I made for the pieces had that Another Typewriter font, so I decided to stick with it.

Site Re-vamp

So I'm currently in the process of overhauling my site ...I suppose it's that artist mentality of never being satisfied with your own work. Right now my site is simply a homepage and a link to this blog .... so, for those of you who have been re-directed here and wish to look at some of my work, feel free to click on the links on the top right. Less Recent Portfolio is actually a link to my old site (the buttons still work so you can drop me a line in the contact section).

In my last site, I wanted a hand-made look so I drew everything up (like the headers and even all the lettering - which apparently, and unfortunately, means no text for the internet spiders to feed on) then had someone help me make it live and functional.
I've now begun working on a cleaner, more retro feel and have opted to learn how to make it live myself (so I can update it with new work as I go... and so when I mess everything up I'll have no one to blame but myself).

Well, hopefully pretty soon I'll have the whole site finished and you'll be able to view a current portfolio and resume. In the meantime... stay tuned!
Oh! P.S. Got my new business cards and I don't really know what to do with 1000 of them so I've already started playing throwing games at my cat.
<3 Rounded edges!

Old Vine Cafe Art Show This Sunday!

I will be showing and selling a few pieces (and many prints!) over at the community art show in the Camp in Costa Mesa! I'm really excited about it cause it's basically my first gallery-style show outside of school.

During the week I'll be working on creating a setup to showcase it all, so hopefully you'll see something sNazZy when Sunday comes rollin' around...

RSVP on Facebook and bring all your beautiful friends~!

Beard Sketches

Some doodling for a Bearded Opinions logo.

Burning Man Shot!

Here's one of the customized test tubes the ladies of Pleasure Island put my burning donkey logo on! It's actually printed on the plastic - not a sticker!

Pretty nifty gift shot glasses wouldn't you say?

Painting & Hooping

So I'm currently working on a landscape (rather, skyscape) for my grandfather. The crappy image above is just a section of the gesso board I'm using.
But in between oil painting, I have found an obsession.

Hooping!

I started hula hooping a couple months ago and it has sprouted into a kind of love affair. I feel anxious without it and I'm constantly on the lookout for new moves to master. It's a great workout, it relieves stress, it looks pretty, and when you learn a new move you feel accomplished and triumphant - what's not to love? Anyway, I just recently dove into the world of fire hooping and I refuse to stop following this white rabbit down the fiery hole...
Here's my first fire hooping video (still working out some kinks, but I had a lot of fun):

Belated Keyboard Cat Gallery Post

At the beginning of this month, Ryan & I went to a (last minute) Keyboard Cat private gallery party at Meltdown Comics in LA. There were so many amazing keyboard cat pieces!! Bad idea on our part to leave from Costa Mesa at 5:30pm (that and using something other than GoogleMaps), but it was worth it in the end:

Cupcakes!

Made a few cutesy notebooks for my aunt this weekend with a colored birthday cupcake on the front and little sketches on each page - The people at Kinkos (or Fedex Office, I should say) actually knew what they were doing and remedied a problem quickly, restoring a little faith in me...

Had to have some SusieCakes cupcakes after this project! Their store is so cute!! And yummy!

Copic Marker Doodle

Stole a moment to experiment with the small set of Copic Marker grays/greys I bought at Comic-con:

Highlights from Comic-Con 09!

Ryan got Kevin & Olivia to do Keyboard Cat...

John K did a drawing of me!

Kent & I made it to Adam Hughes' awesome how-to session - front row!

And I suppose highlight is an understatement for this... EEEEEEE!

This is after I told them to desecrate each other's portrait.
I gotta figure out where to hang this when I frame it.
